Root Canal performed with a crown may be needed due to decay, dead nerves, or inflammation. During the procedure a small hole is made into the top of the crown and the root canal is performed. Root Canal Procedure - Central Incisor

During the root canal of your central incisor, a hole is created at the top of your tooth and the infection tissue will be cleaned out from the canal. When finished, the tooth is filled to help prevent any further infection. Please contact us for further details on the root canal procedure.

Cerec One-Visit Dentistry

Let's face it, very few of us have perfect teeth, free of decay and fillings. You can probably see a filling or two in your own mouth, which do just that -- "fill" a cavity, or hole, in your tooth left from the excavation of decayed tooth structure. In many cases, those fillings are made of metal material and can go bad, weaken the tooth, or get additional decay under or around it. In fact, 1.2 billion of these metal fillings will need to be replaced in the next 10 years.* CEREC is a method used by thousands of dentists worldwide since 1987 not only to replace these fillings, but also to restore any tooth that is decayed, weakened, broken, etc. to its natural strength and beauty. Better yet, it's done with all-ceramic materials that are tooth colored in a single appointment! Huronia Dental is proud to be an active part of the Midland community and has established its place through experience, trust and results that leave our patients smiling.

White Fillings

Do you have silver fillings in your smile? Do they cause you to hide your teeth when you speak? Are you allergic to metallic filling? White or Composite fillings are made of a porcelain-like material that actually bonds to the tooth for a tight seal. The material is strong enough for chewing surfaces and lacks the sensitivity associated with amalgam fillings. Cosmetically, white fillings are colour-matched to your natural tooth making them almost invisible. Amalgam or metallic filling were used for their strength and ease of use. The amalgam was needed for its strength, especially on chewing surfaces and for large cavities. While these fillings make any restoration stand out in your mouth, the material which they are composed of can corrode and leak discolouring your tooth. Amalgam fillings also contain mercury which has received a lot of attention and may pose risks other that the obvious aesthetic ones.

Veneers

Do you ever wish your teeth were straighter, whiter, more aligned? If you could cover your stained slightly crooked or gapped teeth and make them appear flawless would you? Porcelain Veneers in Midland, OntarioThis question isn't merely hypothetical, because with modern dentistry techniques…you can! One procedure that has become popular recently and is highly effective is called Veneers. Dr. Farquhar can create custom Veneers to improve your smile. Veneers are custom, porcelain facings that are bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth. They are made to match the shape and size of your mouth and created at the whiteness level that you desire. To perform the procedure the thickness of the veneer is "smoothed" off the natural tooth surface and the veneer is bonded to the tooth. The result feels and looks natural. Veneers serve many purposes and can be used to: Straighten Crooked Teeth Close gaps in teeth Whiten dark, yellow, permanently-Stained or Discoloured Teeth Repair broken or chipped teeth Enhance your overall smile making you feel younger, sexier and more confident.

Teeth Whitening

If your teeth have lost their pearly white healthy appearance you are not alone. Aging, diet, injuries along with many other factors cause teeth to dull and yellow. Midland Dental Office Teeth Whitening has become a popular dental procedure. Whitening is a mild bleaching process that restores stained or discoloured teeth to a healthy, natural colour, and is very safe under the supervision of a dental professional. The results from Whitening can last for as long as a year and with touch-ups treatments (at home) every few months results can last even longer. "Touch-ups" are especially useful for patients that drink beverages that are prone to stain teeth, such as coffee, tea and red wine. Some patients may experience heightened tooth sensitivity or mild tooth or gum sensitivity during treatment, but these symptoms are only temporary and disappear within a few days after the treatment is finished.

Reason for Tooth Discolouration include:

- drinking coffee, tea, wine or soft drinks stains teeth
- natural aging - The dentin underneath the enamel of a tooth darkens
- Smoking or any tobacco use stains teeth
- Accidents - a dead nerve will darken a tooth
- Root Canal Therapy
- Feel free to ask Dr. Farquhar about professional tooth whitening as well as over the counter agents. Together you can compare treatments and determine which solution will be most effective for you.

If you are interested in bringing out the white in your teeth, Dr. Farquhar will evaluate your teeth, smile and expectations with you, to determine whether whitening is the correct procedure for you.
